What makes a good subscription form?

Offer Value to Your Customers

Highlight the benefits of your newsletter to spark your customers' interest. For example: "Our MAILINGWORK email marketing newsletter provides you with free monthly updates on current trends in email marketing, interesting case studies, and new product features."

Offer value and other benefits in exchange for signing up for the newsletter. These could include free shipping on orders, free e-books, vouchers, or other advantages.

Create Engaging Signup Emails and Pages

It is important for future subscribers to confirm their registration link. Accordingly, the goal of the opt-in email (registration confirmation email) should be to prompt this action. To achieve this, craft a suitable email subject line, such as "Confirm Your Newsletter Registration." The confirmation email should avoid unnecessary distractions such as additional buttons, graphics, etc.

Please note that when the prospective subscriber receives the confirmation email, they are not yet fully registered in MAILINGWORK, and the registration process is not yet legally valid. Therefore, the confirmation email must not contain any promotional content.

Signup pages should ideally be created and integrated on your own website or at least adapted to the corporate design of your website. This fosters trust and recognition among users.

Info
It is also possible to create attractive signup pages using the landing page module from MAILINGWORK.
  • Use the double-opt-in process for registrations and design the signup process transparently and clearly. This ensures you can prove that the subscriber has signed up.
  • Mark only the data fields that are strictly necessary as mandatory in the signup form. Adhere to the principle of data minimization (ยง3a BDSG). The purpose of data collection must be clear before data is collected and must be communicated to the subscriber.
  • Inform new subscribers that they can revoke their consent to receive the newsletter at any time.
  • Ensure subscribers' data will not be shared with third parties to guarantee the security of personal data.
  • Include your privacy policy and require confirmation via a checkbox (mandatory field). However, this checkbox must not be pre-selected to comply with legal requirements.
