What are retained addresses?

What are retained addresses?

In the email statistics under the "Overview" tab, the "Deliveries" section displays the total number of withheld addresses. But what does this figure mean, and how does it affect your newsletter?

Once an email address generates three consecutive hard bounces (indicating undeliverable messages), it is added to the internal "Retained Addresses" list and will no longer receive mailings. All mailings sent from your account are analyzed for this purpose. To prevent future bounces (failed delivery attempts), the email addresses on this list are automatically excluded from all mailings before they are sent. These three consecutive bounces are counted per email address, not per subscriber ID.

You can view the list of retained addresses directly in MAILINGWORK under the tab Subscribers > Bounce Management > Retained Addresses. This list is accessible to all authorized users in your account.
