Setting up an SSL certificate – which SSL certificate should I use?
The SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption protocol ensures secure data transmission over the internet.
It protects web server communication from unauthorized access and manipulation and should be used by default according to GDPR.
The following options are available for installing an SSL certificate:
- Use of a free Let's Encrypt certificate - installation by MAILINGWORK
- No fees
- Automatic renewal every 90 days
- Ordering and management of a paid certificate by MAILINGWORK
- One-time setup fee
- Annual renewal fee
- Ordering and management of the certificate by yourself
- One-time setup fee
- Costs per renewal
If you are using a custom redirect domain for MAILINGWORK, we recommend using a subdomain.
This subdomain should be used exclusively for MAILINGWORK.
If you choose to use a free SSL certificate from Let's Encrypt, you must first set an entry of type "A-Record" in the DNS settings of the subdomain pointing to the IP address 185.98.186.254.
