Opt-out matching between specific subscriber lists in Mailingwork
If you work with Mailingwork and manage multiple subscriber lists in one account, you might be familiar with this challenge: You have created a new list and want to ensure that all unsubscribed addresses from an existing list are taken into account - but not all lists in your account should be included in this process.
Problem Statement
You have created a new subscriber list A and want to perform an opt-out matching against your existing subscriber list B. However, a global opt-out matching across all lists is not practical, as another subscriber list C should not be considered in this matching.
Solution 1: Without Previous Duplicate Check
This method only works if no duplicate check has previously been performed between the affected lists:
- Perform profile enhancement in subscriber list A
- Under Subscribers > Profile Enhancement, in the "Enhancement" step, select the option "Change in List Assignment"
- Add all subscribers from subscriber list A additionally to subscriber list B
- Perform a opt out matching
- Under Subscribers > Clean Lists > Opt Out Matching, perform an opt out matching in subscriber list B
- Create target group
- Create a target group with the condition "Is not contained in list B"
- Remove subscribers from list A
- Perform a profile enhancement in subscriber list A
- Select the target group you just created
- Select the option "Change in List Assignment" again
- Remove all found subscribers from subscriber list A
- Clean up
- Perform a final profile enhancement in subscriber list A
- Select "Change in List Assignment" again
- Remove all subscribers of subscriber list A from subscriber list B again
Solution 2: With Previous Duplicate Check
If a duplicate check has already taken place, you need to follow a slightly more complex approach:
- Make preparations
- Create a subscriber field "Is only contained in new list" (preferably as a Boolean field)
- Perform a profile enhancement in subscriber list A: Select "Change in Subscriber Data", activate the new subscriber field
- Perform a profile enhancement in subscriber list B: Select "Change in Subscriber Data", deactivate the new subscriber field
- Add subscribers to subscriber list B
- Perform a profile enhancement in subscriber list A
- Select the option "Change in List Assignment"
- Add all subscribers from subscriber list A additionally to subscriber list B
- Perform unsubscribe synchronization
- Perform an opt-out matching in subscriber list B
- Create a target group with the condition "Is not contained in subscriber list B"
- Perform a profile enhancement in subscriber list A with this target group
- Select "Change in List Assignment" again and remove all found subscribers from subscriber list A
- Clean up
- Create a target group with the conditions: "Subscriber field is activated" AND "Is only contained in the new subscriber list".
- Perform a profile enhancement in subscriber list A with this new target group
- Select "Change in List Assignment" again
- Remove all subscribers of subscriber list A from subscriber list B again
With these steps, you can perform a targeted unsubscribe synchronization between specific lists without affecting other lists in your account. This method is particularly useful for agencies that manage multiple clients in one account, as it ensures data cleanliness while maintaining data separation between different clients.
Remember to choose the appropriate method depending on your initial situation - whether a duplicate check has already been performed or not.
