I've forgotten my password. What should I do?

I forgot my password. How can I recover it?

  1. Enter your username and the guessed password on the login screen.
  2. If the password is incorrect, a “Forgot password?” link will appear.
  3. Click this link, and you will receive an email with a confirmation link.
  4. Click the link in the email to verify your email ownership.
  5. A security question will then be displayed, which you must answer (using the answer you previously set under “My Settings”).
  6. Set a new password afterward.
Please first enter your username and the guessed password. If the link still doesn’t appear, it might be because the feature isn’t enabled for your account, or you haven’t saved an email address in your “My Settings.” In this case, please contact support@mailingwork.de, and we will assist you as quickly as possible.

The confirmation link is sent to the email address you previously saved under “My Settings.” The link expires after 15 minutes.

Why should I set a security question?

The security question provides extra security. In addition to your username and access to your email inbox, a further criterion (the security question) must be correctly answered before a new password can be set. This adds an extra layer of protection, as attacks on your email inbox cannot be completely ruled out.

What question and answer should I choose?

Choose a question that you can easily answer and whose answer is known only to you. Avoid deliberately false answers, as they are often easier to forget and may not provide additional security benefits.
