How can a recipient of a mailing bounce multiple times?
Frequently, email addresses are used as
"group addresses", such as
info@ addresses. A single email address can have multiple internal recipients to which the email is
forwarded by the mail server. If one or more of these recipients become
unreachable, the mail server sends
one or more bounces for the group address (listed in your subscriber list) back to MAILINGWORK.
This can result in one email address generating multiple bounces. For example, if four forwarding recipients are undeliverable, this creates a bounce series of 4. Consequently, the email address is added to the list of held addresses and will no longer receive future emails.
What can you do?
You could contact the group address (e.g., by phone or email) and request the removal of outdated "forwarding recipients." This also helps establish a personal connection with your subscriber and maintain your address list.
